100% agreed. You allude to this in the post, but looking at things through the lens of benefit vs. cost (how will I feel after I do this vs. what's the immediate cost / hurdle) does a LOT to prevent both (i) high time preference mindsets and (ii) general laziness. Scott Adams put it well.
